When we ask people what they do with pens, mechanical pencils, markers and highlighters that no longer work – the answer is almost always “throw away”. How many have you personally thrown out so far in 2024? Did you know they can be recycled thru Staples and TerraCycle?

Clean Up Peterborough (CUP) is launching a Writing Instrument Collection for October. We are asking everyone to go thru their writing instruments and find ones that no longer work. For Schools, Businesses, Non-profit organizations, Municipal departments and Community Groups- start up a collection box, print off our collection poster, and let’s see how many we can collect.

Let’s work together to arrange pick-ups near the end of the month, and take photos to share your collection number on social media. Or let CUP count and share that number for you. We would like to see how many we can collect over the month, and share the total number of writing instruments collected at the end. Remember two things – this is 100% diversion from the landfill and it is FREE!!!!
